Epstein's Top 100 Projects: #57: Edward Don & Company

In our continuing celebration of our Top 100 Projects, coming in at no. 57 is the 300,000-square-foot Edward Don & Company National Headquarters, located in North Riverside, Illinois.

Completed in 1970, this facility was located on a 20-acre site at 2500 South Harlem Avenue and served as the central hub for Edward Don. In the early 1970s, Edward Don was the largest distributor of food service equipment and supplies.

This building featured a computerized order taking and processing system, in which all product requests were delivered via a central conveyor that mechanically sorted each item according to destination.

In addition, the 56,000-square-foot office component included a 6,000 square foot showroom that had a representative selection of the nearly 50,000 Edward Don items available for purchase.
