Overview

Epstein was retained by the British School of Chicago to provide full interior design services and MEP/FP engineering for its new, 75,000 square foot school. The new facility is located at the corner of Halsted and Eastman Streets within a new mixed-use development, designed by Valerio Dewalt Train Associates, in the Chicago community of Lincoln Park. The dramatically modern building is five stories and can accommodate a student population of 600, ages 3 to 18.

Process

The Epstein designed interior spaces include science laboratories, art rooms, a music classroom/laboratory, a design technology laboratory, both junior and senior-level libraries, a warming kitchen, a multi-functional dining space with seating for 300 students, a full-sized basketball court/ gymnasium and administrative offices. A ground-level playground is provided for younger students while a unique, rooftop exercise area was designed for older students.
