Construction continues on the new 2-story, 75,560-square-foot Peoples Gas Central Shop Field Service Center at 4207 W. 35th Place.

Peoples Gas is developing this and other brownfield sites within a former industrial parking lot to a campus, of sorts. The Central Shop facility will complement the companys existing Peoples Energy Training Center to the north and its soon-to-be-completed Logistics Support facility to the west.

Located west of the intersection of 35th Place and Pulaski, the property was chosen due to its proximity to Peoples Gas customers to improve response times for service calls and emergencies.

Epstein is pleased to be providing architect of record and civil engineering services for the Central Shop, which is similar to the Peoples Gas North Shop facility that Epstein has already designed. Epstein is partnering with the McKissack & McKissack and FH Paschen joint venture. McKissack & McKissack is the design architect and program contractor and FH Paschen is serving as the general contractor.

Dave Hilty, PE, Epsteins Civil Engineering Project Manager, explains what can be seen in the construction progress photos featured in this article:

The PGL Central Shop building is enclosed and interior utilities and walls are being installed. The site utilities, curbing, and pavement are also well underway. To reduce costs for storm water management, we were able to utilize a pre-existing aggregate underground detention system which helped minimize excavation and pipe costs."

This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2019.
