Illinois State Toll Highway Authority Memorial Dedication

Epstein's architecture group designed a memorial monument for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, in partnership with Atlas Engineering Group. Prominently situated outside the Illinois Tollway Headquarters in Downers Grove, Illinois, the black and grey memorial is dedicated to honoring fallen Tollway workers and Illinois State Police troopers who have lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting our communities. It is comprised of a radial plaza and two curved granite walls that envelope the space and create a sense of shielding for the occupants. During ceremonies, spectators occupy the space as if it were a small amphitheater, and are able to share commemorative proceedings in a connected and intimate way. The granite walls are engraved with the names of the fallen workers and troopers.

Last month, a joint dedication ceremony was held between the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and Illinois State Patrol.
