Yesterday, October 11th, Epstein’s DE&I Committee sponsored an in-house presentation in our Chicago HQ on Mental Health Awareness. October 10th was World Mental Health Day, a day established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992 with the objective to raise awareness on mental health issues, and the DE&I Committee felt that this presentation would help further educate and provide a better understanding on mental health, specifically in the workplace.

The speaker for this event, Bernie Dyme, is President & CEO of Perspectives, an organization committed to delivering the highest-quality workplace resource programs. Bernie earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Chicago, is a Board Certified in Clinical Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Bernie’s presentation, entitled “Addressing Mental Health in the Workplace”, covered the following three main topics: Why is Mental Health Important; What Employers, specifically Architects & Engineers like Epstein, Should Know and Do; and, Mental Health First Aid: How to Support Yourself and Others in Distress or Post-Trauma.

We had a packed house for Bernie’s presentation that also included a lunch from Fabulous Freddies Italian Eatery, a WBE-owned restaurant located at 701 W 31st Street in Chicago.

Here are some photos from the presentation…
