Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine released their annual Top 100 Design-Build Firms, and we are very pleased to report that Epstein was ranked 69th, a significant improvement from last years 90th placement!

Epsteins Design-Build revenue, $277.3 million, was generated through a multitude of projects. One of our biggest was providing DB services for a new 925,000-square-foot, $335 million pork processing plant for Seaboard Triumph Foods, located on a 245-acre site in Bridgeport West Industrial Park in Sioux City, Iowa. We were entrusted to design, engineer and build a modern fresh pork plant focused on food safety and efficiency.

Epstein also provided DB services for another pork processing plant for Prestage Foods of Iowa in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The 650-square-foot plant was designed to process approximately 600 million pounds of pork annually.

Another great project was Triumph Foods Export & Combo Cooler Expansion, during which Epstein provided DB services to construct their pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. This project also involves the expansion of the existing export cooler for palletizing equipment as well as additional storage.

Overall, the top 100 Design-Build firms had a total revenue of $107.15 billion in 2017, ENR reports, which is up 4.0 percent from 2016. However, revenue from domestic DB projects grew a healthy 9.6 percent, rising to $84.35 billion, in 2017. Conversely, international DB revenue dropped 12 percent in 2016, due in part, according to ENR, to a falloff in huge engineering-procurement-construction projects in the international mining, power and petroleum markets.

The number 1 ranked Design-Builder was Fluor Corporation, located in Irving, Texas, with a reported $13,657.9 million in total revenue. For ENRs complete list, click here.

Many congratulations to our entire construction and Design-Build team members on this exciting industry ranking!
