We are pleased to welcome Mohamed Abdelmagid, our new Project Engineer, to Epstein’s DesignBuild group! Mohamed is not only new to the area, but also relatively new to the states, having moved here from the United Arab Emirates only four years ago. Before coming to the Chicagoland area, Mohamed lived in Ames, Iowa for school. While this is Mohamed’s first professional job in the U.S., he used to work as a field engineer in Dubai.

Upon moving to the states, Mohamed’s first step was to enroll in a community college and then proceed to a university. He graduated this past May from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s in construction engineering (congratulations!). He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) as well as the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Mohamed is also the Public Relations Chair at the Sudanese Community Organization. Throughout school, he has worked as a full-time laborer and an Uber driver.

Since he was a kid, becoming an engineer has been Mohamed’s dream. He has always wanted to be in a position to help others, and feels this industry affords him the opportunity to improve the world we live in.

Mohamed was born and raised in Port Sudan, a port city in eastern Sudan (which is a country in Northeast Africa). He attended high school at African Council and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering from Sudan University of Science and Technology.

Outside of work, Mohamed likes to play soccer. He drives 30 minutes every weekend just to play. He is a huge fan of the Chelsea team, an English professional “football” club based in West London, and his favorite player is N'Golo Kanté. Mohamed, please see Noel Abbott for any and all soccer-related conversations. Soccer aside, traveling is Mohamed’s passion. He loves learning about and adapting to new cultures.

What else should we know about Mohamed? He loves to take on responsibility, as he feels the more responsibility you have the more successful you will become.

Once again, welcome to Epstein, Mohamed! We are delighted to have you join us.
