We are pleased to welcome Jerry Albom, our new Preconstruction Manager, to Epstein’s DesignBuild group! Jerry’s primary responsibility will be to establish the preconstruction department as a bridge between design and construction. Prior to joining us, Jerry was a project executive at Gilbane Building Company.

Jerry grew up in Manhasset Hills, New York, located 20 miles east of Manhattan. He attended Washington University in Saint Louis, receiving a Master’s in construction management and a B.S. in civil engineering. While obtaining his master’s, Jerry performed research that was cited in the book Construction Productivity. In addition, throughout his time at Wash U, Jerry was a member of the school’s wrestling and concrete canoe teams, the latter of which competed throughout the Midwest.

When he was 5-years-old, Jerry fell out of a second story window. While in the hospital (though thankfully he sustained no injuries), he received get well presents, including Spirograph and Legos. That was enough to spark Jerry’s interest in construction. He has wanted to build things ever since. Now, Jerry likes to play with Legos with his grandchildren!

Outside of work, he and his wife spend most of their time raising their children and playing with their grandchildren. They live in West Rogers Park and have a lovely backyard vegetable garden where they grow a variety of items, including garlic, tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries and cucumbers. They spend as much time as they can outside and also enjoy going camping. When time and weather permits, Jerry likes to bike ride in the summer months and hopes to ride into work. Many years ago, he was also an avid contract bridge player. He is looking forward to finding a new playing partner and competing again!

Once again, welcome to Epstein, Jerry! We are delighted to have you join us.
