We are pleased to welcome Jacob Carlson, our new Design Engineer, to Epstein’s Structural Engineering group! He will primarily be involved in drafting for a variety of industrial and commercial projects. Prior to joining Epstein, Jacob worked in AECOM’s Hunt’s construction group.

Jacob attended the University of Illinois, where he earned a degree in civil engineering, and is now pursuing his Master’s - also at the U of I. He takes online courses after work and plans to compete the degree in the spring of 2023. While at Illinois, he was involved in the club water polo team.

Jacob has always been a math and science student growing up; selecting engineering was therefore a natural decision when going to college. Additionally, his father and uncle are in the construction management industry, and Jacob began working for the family business while in high school. Being around the construction sites and eventually taking some structural courses throughout undergrad led Jacob to develop an interest in the industry.

Jacob grew up in New Lenox, Illinois and attended Lincoln-Way West High School. Outside of work, he continues to play water polo for a club team in the Lincoln-Way area. He enjoys swimming, running, biking and has hopes to compete in a triathlon and marathon eventually. Jacob also enjoys watching sports and hanging out with his friends. He is a big Chicago Bulls fan, but follows all of Chicago’s teams. Jacob also loves traveling, whether it’s cross country to the many National Parks or out of the country. He is hoping to take a European trip soon, COVID pending, of course. And he also has a passion for history and enjoys reading in his spare time.

Once again, welcome to Epstein! We’re delighted to have you join us.
