We are pleased to welcome Erich Bixler, our new BIM Manager, to Epsteins Architecture department! At Epstein, his primary responsibility is to update and maintain the health of Building Information Modeling content and practices for Epstein Architecture.

Prior to joining us, Erich was the Production Systems Manager for WMA Consulting Engineers. After working with engineers for the last 14 years, he said he is quite excited to be back in the architecture world.

Erich grew up on the space coast of Florida in Coco. During high school, he was on the surfing team, which sounds like a fantastic team to be on. Interestingly, his father worked on the Apollo and Skylab missions. He and his family moved to St. Cloud, Florida Erichs sophomore year of high school just a few miles from Disney World!

He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland (go Terps!).

Early on, Erich was interested in art and construction and always had an appreciation for great engineering. To him, architecture seemed to be a blend of all of those. Soon after graduating from the School of Architecture, he went to work for a small firm in historic Annapolis. It was there where he started using AutoCAD version 2.1 on a Radio shack Tandy 1000. Since then, he has worked with all kinds of Autodesk products in the following industries: architecture, manufacturing, construction, civil engineering, electronics, P&ID, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering.

Throughout the summer, Erich will be keeping busy with lots of gardening, landscaping and DIY projects. Last year, he built an enclosed planter to keep varmints away from his vegetables. He designed it using Revit. Snowboarding, bicycling, walking, scale model trains, and designing and building RC airplanes are some of his other hobbies.

Erich also likes to plan family vacations. A few years back, he rented a house in Lake Geneva and took the family skydiving. Another year they spent a weekend on a houseboat on the Mississippi River. Erich, we would like to be included on any and all trips moving forward.

Once again, welcome to Epstein! We are delighted to have you.
