We are delighted to welcome Ed Curley, AIA, LEED AP, back to Epstein! Ed worked at Epstein from 2005-2015 as the Associate Vice President of Client Strategies. Now, he joins us as the Director of Architecture, where he will be responsible for serving as the principal-in-charge for our architecturally-led projects, as well as ensuring the project delivery and design for those endeavors. Additionally, Ed will also direct the coordination of our architectural staff and supervise all phases of design.

Prior to returning to Epstein, Ed worked at Rafael Vinoly Architects, where he was running the Chicago office as well as the NEMA Chicago project, an 800-apartment tower currently under construction in the Central Station neighborhood.

He primarily grew up in the Peoria area (Washington, IL) and attended THE Peoria Notre Dame High School. From there, Ed went to THE Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and obtained his B.Arch in Architecture, City and Regional Planning. Some of his extracurricular activities throughout school included traveling, guitar playing and rabble rousing, as one does.

According to Ed, architecture seems to be one of those professions that a lot of people say theyve wanted to do their entire lives. So, for how he ended up in this field, fate is a strong possibility. I should also note that his dad was a design engineer for Caterpillar and his mom was an art teacher; so, its a toss-up.

Outside of work, most of his time is spent hanging out with his 6-year-old, Leo, 8-year-old, Finn, and wife of 15 years, Jenny. As one might imagine, there are quite a few tee-ball, baseball, basketball and soccer games to attend. Hopefully the score is kept at some of those. Eds interests stretch far and wide. Here we go: He enjoys reading, firing up the ol guitar, losing at video games to his sons, winning at everything else against his sons, grilling, and exploring the world of craft beer and all things Chicago. Special talents? You betcha. Impressively, Ed is 6 percent fluent in French, according to Duolingo. Oh, and he has never missed a free throw shot in his life.

Ed is also one of those rare breeds who roots for both the Cubs and the Sox. He is, however, deeply devoted to the Bears and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Ed is a fierce proponent of the South Side, having lived in Bridgeport for 20 years and in Beverly for the last three.

What should his Epstein family know about him? Hes a Gemini; he successfully snuck backstage to hang out with Lou Reed for an hour in 1997; and his money was on Arya Stark to win Game of Thrones. Do with that what you will.

Ed, we are thrilled to have you back at Epstein!
