We are pleased to welcome Cody McChane, AICP, our new Planner, to Epstein’s Civil Engineering department! In his new role, he will primarily be working on bike, pedestrian and transit planning as well as public engagement. Prior to joining us, Cody was with CDM Smith, an engineering and construction firm, working as a CTA strategic planner as an embedded consultant on the Red Line Extension project.

Cody grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended undergrad at Transylvania University in Lexington, earning his BA in sociology and a minor in music. After moving to Chicago in 2011, he proceeded to go to grad school at the University of Illinois at Chicago and obtained a Master’s in urban planning and policy. Cody pursued this industry after seeing the work being done in the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) bike and pedestrian planning programs while working at the Active Transportation Alliance.

Outside of work, Cody enjoys biking – to work, around town, and on long trips – camping, hiking; basically anything that gets him outdoors. He also plays ultimate Frisbee year-round. He would also like to make it known that he is an amateur bike mechanic, and encourages us all to come at him with his questions.

Cody is excited to be back working in the bike and pedestrian planning world. We are equally as excited to have you join us, Cody! Once again, welcome to Epstein.
