February 10, 2021

2021 is a significant year for our firm. On July 15th, we will officially turn 100 years old, reaching a milestone that only a handful of firms ever achieve. With our centennial anniversary quickly approaching, we thought we would take a moment to let all of you know of the myriad of ways we will be celebrating our "birthday" in the months before and after July 15th.

Our most significant celebratory act will be the publication of a book. This will chronicle not only the 100 years of our firm’s services, experiences and innovations, but also the immigrant "American Dream" story of our founder, Abraham Epstein, as well as our long-standing dedication to community service. This book is currently in the final stages of design and will be printed this spring. We will be gifting the book to all of our current employees across the globe, past employees who played a significant role in our successes over the years, current and past clients, as well as friends, family and AEC industry partners.

In the coming months, we will be publishing excerpts from the book on our website and social media channels, highlighting passages on topics like: Epstein’s numerous design and engineering innovations within the manufacturing and food industries; our development of the DesignBuild delivery method; our trailblazing presence in Eastern Europe; as well as our partnerships with signature architects like Mies van der Rohe and Lord Norman Foster.

In addition, we will also give sneak-peaks into our history in our core markets by showing, for instance, how Epstein has been a design and engineering leader in the aviation industry since the dawn of commercial air flight in the early 1930s and how our architects in the 50s were among the first to produce high-rise towers that embrace the modernist international style that has stayed in vogue for nearly 70 years.

We will also highlight many of the influential individuals who helped shape our firm, including the Abraham’s sons, Raymond and Sidney, our former long-standing chief executive, Mickey Kupperman, as well as Andrew Metter, FAIA, our former design director whose Epstein-designed buildings have won numerous design awards as well as praise from critics around the globe.

In addition to showcasing our 100th anniversary book, we will also be celebrating our centenary with: An updated website featuring enhanced search-ability, embedded video, and more profiles on our great staff around the world; a special video capturing our unique 100-year story; and a countdown of our 100 most influential projects.

We are exceptionally excited about telling our unique story to all of you over the months building up to, and then after, our 100th anniversary.
