The Epstein designed & engineered Riverview Bridge is now open. For those of you not familiar with Riverview, its a 16-span reinforced concrete bridge that is approximately 1000 long and 16 wide with 14' path, located at Addison and the Chicago River. Epsteins design strategy involved the unconventional solution of disengaging the Path/Bridge from the Riverbank and elevating the entire structure above the water level. This solution elevates the trail on piers, and locates it within the River, providing for a sustainable solution which preserves the maximum amount of vegetation, and riverbank stability, while minimizing scouring and erosion.

Our friends at Active Transportation Alliance posted this piece on the Riverview -

In the coming weeks well be posting additional Riverview related materials, include the results of our upcoming photoshoot, a new drone video capturing the bridge in use as well as sharing reviews from publications.
