Yesterday, April 26th, Epstein’s senior technical architect, Lori Chandler, was named to the City of Aurora’s (Illinois) Fire Board of Appeals and the Permanent Building and Fire Code Committee. The Fire Board hears applications for modification of the requirements of the International Fire Code. The Building and Fire Code Committee acts in an advisory role to Aurora’s City Council on matters pertaining to amendments to Aurora’s Building Codes.

Lori is specifically well-suited to these roles having recently helped the City of Chicago’s Department of Buildings overhaul local building codes, the first major change to Chicago’s codes in over 70 years. For that effort, Lori was on the Fire/Life Safety technical working group and prepared recommendations on how to align the core construction, fire protection, renovation, and life safety provisions of the Municipal Code of Chicago with the International Building Code (IBC) and related model codes developed by the International Code Council (ICC).

Congratulations Lori on your appointments and with being recognized, once again, as a leading expert in building and fire codes!
