2021 Promotions!

We are very pleased to make the always-enjoyable announcement about the professional advancements of some of Epstein's staff members.

Recently, 23 employees received well-deserved promotions for their overall performances. Those individuals include:

Tom Suarez (Structural). Epstein is happy to announce the promotion of Tom to Senior Vice President. Tom is an integral part of Epstein’s senior leadership, helping guide our firm into its next century of operation. As director of our Structural Engineering Department, Tom’s strong technical skills and experience are the foundation of our engineering team. This well-deserved promotion recognizes Tom’s accomplishments and contributions to Epstein’s continued success.

Randy Tharp (DesignBuild) to Senior Vice President. Randy has been an integral part of the Epstein organization since 2002, serving in roles like Director of Construction, Managing Principal of our Bucharest, Romania office as well as Director of Business Development. Randy has significant expertise in industrial construction, especially in estimating and scheduling, is a vital component of our DesignBuild efforts in the United States, Europe and Middle East.

Eric Pawelek (MEP) to Vice President. Since returning to Epstein in 2018, Eric has provided our MEP staff with a great deal of technical knowledge and leadership. This promotion recognizes Eric’s hard work and accomplishments as Epstein’s Director of our MEP department.

Dan Frasca (DesignBuild) to Associate Vice President. Dan joined Epstein in 2018 and has been responsible for the success of a number of our industrial construction projects across the United States, including a new manufacturing and R&D facility for a leading baking industry client in Chicago.

Nick Hawkins (DesignBuild) to Associate Vice President. Nick began his Epstein career in 2015 and, during his tenure, has helped lead a series of high-profile construction projects, like the Seaboard Triumph Foods Pork Processing Plant, Prestage Farms of Iowa Pork Processing Plant and a series of renovation/operational improvements to WholeStone Farms Pork Processing Plant.

Tim Gustafson (Civil) to Associate Vice President. Tim had a strong 2020 with major accomplishments in growing as an individual, growing the company, helping our clients and enhancing our communities. He strengthened his role as trusted advisor with municipalities in the region. He mentored younger staff in bicycle/pedestrian planning. He helped clients win grant funding. He presented as a technical expert at several trade association conferences. He volunteered his time to APA-IL. Even with all of that, he found time to take on special projects within Epstein to strengthen our Information Technology as we moved into the virtual world and educate the company through the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Mica Manaois (Interiors) to Associate Vice President. As the leader of the Interiors group, Mica has worked to strengthen Epstein’s interior design capabilities and to promote our firm to current and future clients. Mica strives to deliver the best design possible for our clients, and has focused efforts towards always elevating our design processes and standards.

Patrick Carata (Architecture) to Design Director. Since Patrick’s arrival, we have had a number of successful design pursuits led out of Chicago. Together, with Marcin Rysniak, Senior Design Professional, and several others in Architecture and Interiors groups, Patrick has organized and led some impressive design efforts and secured new work both here and abroad. He is passionately focused towards developing Epstein's design processes and supporting all disciplines in our company’s design pursuits.
