Tom Smiles Presents A. Epstein Award to UIUC Civil Engineering Seniors

Award named after our founder and honors the UIUC graduating seniors with highest GPA

Earlier this month, Epstein’s senior vice president and director of engineering, Thomas E. Smiles, PE, had the honor of presenting the A. Epstein Award in Civil Engineering to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seniors Hua Shao and Cody Simpson. The A. Epstein Award, which is presented at UIUC’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Awards annual luncheon, was established by Raymond (BS 38) and Sidney Epstein (BS 43) in honor of their father, Abraham Epstein, the founder of our firm and a 1911 graduate of the UIUC engineering school.
