When Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine released their annual Top 400 Contractors in May, we were very pleased to see that Epstein was ranked No. 308; marking our first time appearing on the prestigious list in nearly 15 years!
And now, in the latest issue of ENR, the rankings have been further organized in a variety of market sectors. We are just as ecstatic to see that in the “Top Contractors in Manufacturing” category, Epstein came in at No. 10, with a reported 2017 revenue of $264.6 million. The manufacturing sort includes food processing facilities, auto assembly, electronic assembly and textile plants, among others.
Over the last several years, Epstein has seen significant growth in the construction side of our business. This increase is due to the substantial role Epstein plays as a builder in the meat processing industry, which includes projects like the recently completed $335 million Seaboard Triumph Foods facility in Sioux City, Iowa, as well as the 650,000-square-foot Prestage Foods of Iowa plant currently being constructed in Eagle Grove, Iowa.
The Top 400, as a group, generated a record $373.98 billion in contracting revenue in 2017, an increase of 2.1 percent from 2016’s $366.41 billion, according to ENR. However, the real story is on the domestic side. Contracting revenue from U.S. projects rose a healthy 4.9 percent, to $322.83 billion, on top of a 9.4 percent rise in domestic revenue last year and a 9.5 percent increase the year before. On the other hand, contracting revenue from projects outside the U.S. plunged 18.4 percent, to $35.55 billion, in 2017, with major declines noted in projects in the mining-and-metals and petroleum sectors and a falloff in the general building sector abroad.
Congratulations to our Construction and Design-Build team members on this noteworthy industry ranking!
