We are pleased to welcome (back) to Epstein - James Young, our new senior project architect.

After receiving a Bachelor's of Architecture from Syracuse University (Go Orange!) in 1994, James came back to Chicago to practice in a variety of firms until landing at Epstein for the McCormick Place Convention Center West Expansion project from 2002/2003. Since then, James been at SCB working on large scale (mostly residential) urban tower projects in Chicago, Houston, Austin and Atlanta, first as a designer and then as a project architect.

James has been married to his lovely wife Myra for more than 20 years and they have two beautiful children, William (11) and Letty (9) and a giant black Poodle, Rosie. His family loves taking full advantage of the City with them whenever possible and they still enjoy taking road trips. (James just wait until William and Letty become teenagers, then get back to us on how much you 'enjoy' road trips!)

James and his wife are regular volunteers at Lurie Children's Hospital and he also makes time regularly for the GCE Lab School (https://gcelabschool.com/), a local Chicago high school that his childhood friend started 7 years ago. James helped develop curriculum for them that utilizes urban planning and building design concepts to teach all aspects of their classroom experience.

The GCE Lab School is about to move into their new 12,000 sq. ft. facility in Lincoln Park, where they have used recycled and repurposed materials almost exclusively (and to a very artful result) in their build-out. With the use of their 3D maker-lab, the students have also been helping to build light fixtures and study carrels for their own use.

At Epstein, James is currently working on the Seaboard Farms Triumph Foods pork processing plant in Sioux City, Iowa as well as the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center Expansion in New York.

Once again, welcome (back) to the family James!
