The past 12 months have further cemented our reputation as a firm that designs, engineers, and/or constructs an incredibly diverse & rewarding portfolio of projects. A portfolio that as we celebrate our 95th anniversary, includes public infrastructure improvements, significant industrial facilities & award-winning commercial developments. The following 10 projects, either completed or the recipients of major design awards in 2016, are randomly ranked and clearly illustrate the diversity of services and market served by the Epstein organization this past year.

#10 Prime Corporate Center

The Prime Corporate Center, a PLN 115mln ($38M), 96 meter (23-story, with 5 levels of below grade parking) high-rise office building, is located on ul. Grzybowska in Warsaws Wola district. Prime was designed by Epsteins Warsaw office in conjunction with Chicago-based Solomon Cordwell Buenz. Prime was developed by a joint-venture between Golub and GetHouse and was certified BREEAM (the European equivalent to LEED) 2009 Europe Commercial: Offices (Shell only).

#9 500 West Monroe

Epsteins interior design team transformed the 12,000 square foot main entrance and building lobby at 500 West Monroe. The transformation was driven by the buildings owner, Piedmont Office Realty Trust, to make 500 West Monroe a more competitive building, attract new tenants and improve the building experience. The approach for the design was to be considerate of the existing architecture while creating a more inviting and activated space.

#8 Wolf Point West

Epstein provided civil engineering design services for the Wolf Point West residential high-rise located in Chicago, Illinois. The developers, Hines and Magellan Development Group LLC, constructed a 43-story residential apartment tower designed by bKL with lower level parking, a 2nd floor amenity level, a ground floor entry level with a pool and work-out facilities, and a cantilevered river walk along the Chicago River. The project is located at the northeast corner of the confluence of the North Branch of the Chicago River and the Main Stem of the Chicago River. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

#7 Edward Hines Jr. VA Building 200

Epstein was the design architect, interior designer and full-service engineer (civil, MEP/FP, and structural for Building 200, which serves as Hines main entrance. Epsteins architects and engineers were responsible for improving and expanding an existing 6,000 sf hospital lobby and surrounding site.

#6 OHare International Airport Runway 10R-28L

Epstein managed and providing co-lead engineering services, along with the Michael Baker Corporation, for the design of Runway 10R-28L, a 7,500 foot long, 150 foot wide, CAT II/III all-weather runway at OHare International Airport. For this project Epsteins engineers were responsible for the design of 10R-28Ls earthwork, grading, pavements, geometrics, NAVAIDS, drainage, storm water conveyance, erosion and sedimentation control, utilities, lighting, signing, and pavement marking. This project won the 2016 National Project of the Year Award from the Construction Managers Association of American.

#5 Illinois Tollway M1 Maintenance Facility

The M-1 project in Alsip, Illinois at Cicero Avenue and I-294 is the first site to be addressed in a system-wide Maintenance Facility program being planned, designed and engineered by Epstein for the Illinois Tollway. The M-1 building is a 94,383 square foot maintenance facility located on an existing 10-acre site. The facility utilized the design-bid-build delivery method and achieved LEED-NC Gold certification.

#4 Astoria Premium Office

Astoria, which is strategically located between Warsaws Old Town and business district, is a ¬75M ($94M), 28,000 square meter (300,000 square feet), 11-story Class A office and retail building designed and engineered by Epsteins Warsaw office. Astoria, which is pursuing LEED-NC Gold certification, has an LED lighting system, automatic internal and external blinds, and a concrete core cooling to control room temperature.

#3 Conrad by Hilton

Epstein was the architect of record as well as civil, MEP/FP, and structural engineer working with a team of designers which included Pierre-Yves Rochon and the Puccini Group on Gellar Investment Companys office-to-hotel redevelopment of Chicagos 101 East Erie. In this role Epstein helped the Gellar Investment Company convert the upper 13 floors of the commercial office building at 101 East Erie into a five-star luxury hotel under the Conrad by Hilton flag.

#2 Park Plaza Senior Living Facility

Epstein-designed and engineered a renovation and expansion to Chicagos Park Plaza Senior Living Facility, a project that included a new lobby, resident galleria and synagogue. Park Plaza received a Distinguished Building Award Citation of Merit at Designight, the annual architectural awards gala of the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

#1 Dailys Premium Meats

Epstein provided Design-Build services to Dailys Premium Meats to construct their new 115,000 square foot bacon plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. This $41.5 million plant focuses on producing sliced-to-order naturally hardwood smoked bacon and will employ over 200 people when capacity is reached.
