We are thrilled to welcome Conor OBrien back to Epstein! He joins the MEP Department as an Electrical Design Engineer. Conor interned with us last summer!

Conor recently graduated from Iowa State University (go Cyclones!) with a Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering with an electrical emphasis. Throughout school, he was a member of the universitys National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) student chapter.

During his final two years at ISU, Conor competed in the Green Energy Challenge. For those unfamiliar, like myself, the Green Energy Challenge is a national student competition hosted by NECA. It consisted of Conor and his team, Cyclone Energy, performing an energy analysis on a facility in their community and detailing their findings, suggested improvements, cost, project schedule and community outreach efforts in a proposal presented to a client. The proposal is then judged by NECA, and the top three schools are invited to the national convention to give an oral presentation on the project. Last fall, Conors team went to Seattle and won their fourth straight title! Theyre (hopefully) going for number five this fall! Kudos, and good luck!

Conor grew up in Elmhurst and attended York Community High School. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with friends and family. Hes also a hobbyist woodworker and has built a few pieces of furniture over the years. He took woodshop classes throughout high school and even worked in a woodshop on campus throughout his time at Iowa State.

Conor is also very passionate about cars and enjoys going to local meets and shows, as well as working on his own car. Conor, how are you with fixing a flat tire on the road? Asking for a friend.

He says he joined this industry because hes passionate about electrical construction and engineering. This passion developed from years of working with my dad, who was an electrician. I loved working with and learning from him, Conor said, who still helps his dad out on an occasional side job.

Welcome again, Conor, we are pleased to have you with us!
