We recently received the photography for the Downtown Chicago Residence Inn/SpringHill Suites, a project that involved renovating the first floor lobby space as well as a full renovation of the second floor public areas which included the addition of a new lobby bar. For this project Epstein was the architect of record and MEP/FP engineer, including AV design services, as well as the lighting designer, which were led by our lighting design studio manager, Renata Pajerska, LC, LEED AP BD+C.

Epstein's lighting designers, worked closely with The Gettys Group, the interior designer, to create a welcoming ambiance by incorporating lighting into fine finishes for the renovated spaces. Some of the strategies included utilizing a LED warm glow dimming approach to imitate incandescent, as well as creating zones by integrating programmable lighting controls to adjust the light levels and create different lighting scenarios. The main highlight feature of the space is the new bar area which received the incorporated pre-lit color changing LED shelving to make the statement by making the bar glow.

The full scope of the renovation of Residence Inn/SpringHill Suites included on Level 1 the modernizing of the Arrival/Entry Lobby as well as Elevator Cabs. The scope of renovation on Level 2 featured a combined Check-in Desk, Market, Bar, separate Lobby's & Buffet's for Springhill Suites & Residence Inn, an Elevator Lobby, a Meeting Room & Public Restrooms.

In addition to Renatas work, the Epstein team responsible for completing this well received renovation include David Scott, AIA, Michael Dalezman, Martin Barenbaum, PE, Tim Geiser, PE, Paula Padilla-Bozyk, Patrick Alcock and Mario Roman. Well done team!
