We are pleased to welcome Tim Gustafson, AICP, our new Senior Planner, to Epstein! Tim brings more than 10 years of experience in transportation planning for various modes, including roadway, transit, aviation, bicycle and pedestrian projects.

As Senior Planner with Epstein, Tim will serve as project manager for transportation planning and design projects at various stages, and facilities involving multiple agencies and jurisdictions.

Prior to joining Epstein, Tim managed the Chicago office for Alta Planning + Design, focusing on active transportation planning and design projects. He also became certified for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).

Tim received his Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University (go Cardinals!) and his Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Public Affairs, with a focus on transportation, from the University of Illinois at Chicago (go Flames!).

Coincidentally enough, he originally wanted to be an architect. However, first-year students at BSU are introduced to urban planning, and it really piqued Tims interest.

As a planner, I have always been interested in learning about how people travel and how they get to where they want to go, Tim said. It may have started way back when playing Sim City.

Tim grew up in Lindenhurst, Illinois, in the Lake County suburbs and attended Antioch Community High School. Formerly a resident of Chicagos Andersonville neighborhood, Tim now lives in Rogers Park with his husband, where they enjoy the citys restaurants, street festivals and love learning about wine, beer and cheese. That would be a superb college major. Who can we speak to about making that happen?

Now, you may be thinking that Tim is a bicycle aficionado. Well, that is not totally the case. He describes himself as an enthusiastically casual bicyclist you know, one who enjoys getting around town, but is not a super-miler by any stretch!

Well, Tim, we are enthusiastically delighted to have you at Epstein! Welcome!
