Last week, Mitsubishi, the parent company of Indiana Packers, announced that a $40.6M Bacon Expansion project was underway at Indiana Packers Delphi, Indiana plant. For this project Epstein is serving as the Design-Builder for an addition to the main production facility as well as a boiler room building. The main expansion includes approximately 18,000 sf of new smokehouse and tempering cooler space for bacon production.

The first level of the expansion includes smokehouses, blast chills, tempering cooler, and support spaces. The second level includes a mezzanine and catwalk over the smokehouses as well as a box shop over the tempering cooler. In addition, the renovation also includes replacing blast chill units and adding separation walls in the existing tempering cooler.

The 1,300 sf boiler room expansion will add one bay onto the existing facility to allow for an additional boiler to be installed.

Both expansions have a precast exterior wall to match the existing campus structures.

Construction on this project is scheduled to be completed in early 2016.
