Epstein was the architect of record, engineer and lighting designer for the renovation of the Downtown Chicago Residence Inn/SpringHill Suites level 1 and 2 lobby and public amenity renovation, which included the addition of a new lobby bar.
The renovation of level 1 included modernizing the arrival experience. The renovation of level 2 featured a combined registration desk, market, bar, separate lobbies and buffets for SpringHill Suites & Residence Inn, an elevator lobby, a meeting room & public restrooms.
Additionally, Epstein’s lighting designers worked closely with The Gettys Group, the interior designer, to create a welcoming ambiance by incorporating sophisticated lighting to highlight the fine finishes of the renovated spaces. Some of the strategies included utilizing an LED warm glow dimming approach to imitate incandescent lighting, as well as creating “scenes” by integrating programmable lighting controls to adjust the light levels and create different lighting scenarios. The new bar makes a statement by incorporating pre-lit color-changing LED glass shelving, making the bar “glow.”
