Epstein’s Patelski Calls for Creative Measures, Collaboration for Sustainability in Supply Chains at “Greening the Supply Chain” Conference June 9-10
Chicago, June 6, 2008 – John Patelski, executive managing director and president of engineering and construction for Epstein, will address best practices in sustainable resources in the supply chain at “Greening the Supply Chain,” June 9-10 in Sacramento.
Patelski will use examples from Epstein’s substantial array of projects implementing sustainable design, including WinCo Foods’ Ceres, California, distribution center and multiple distribution center facilities for Medline Industries, Inc.
“Epstein has been a leader in providing sustainable design solutions for major companies in a broad range of projects, including distribution facilities,” noted Patelski.
The focus on sustainable design and green supply chain solutions is very timely, Patelski said. “There is continual focus on streamlining the supply chain, reducing costs, and maintaining service levels, just to remain competitive and retain market share. Oil at
$130 per barrel, rising construction costs, questionable consumer demand, capacity constraint in infrastructure, and container shortages are all having a significant impact on today's transportation costs as well as the logistics and operations of many companies.”
