Over the past year, our Lighting Design Studio Manager, Renata Pajerska, has been designing significant upgrades to the lighting systems within our Chicago headquarters. The results of Renatas work can now be seen! Her lighting designs have not only dramatically improved the illumination of our personal & communal workspaces, but also helped to accent our unique loft environment. They also call special attention to the panels in our reception space, boards that depict the history of Epstein from our founding in 1921 to present day in pictorial form.

Specifically, Renata carefully selected linear direct/indirect fixtures in white finish and small profile to blend with the existing beam system. These fixtures were strategically placed to both provide lighting over the working surfaces and to be aligned with the structural beams. In addition, large circular pendants were introduced over the architectural design studio meeting tables to visually break the existing linear system.

Up-lighting components were utilized to illuminate and emphasize the beautiful wood ceiling of our late 1800s industrial loft building environment. The all glass, transparent conference room, which we lovingly call The Fishbowl, received a linear see-through fixture that complements the room dynamics, which include a vivid panoramic view of the Chicago skyline.

Additionally, our 9th floor reception lobby features a lighting system comprised of indirect up-lighting, for softening the ambience, as well as wall up/down cylinders mounted on the existing historic brick wall to create a street-like atmosphere.

It should also be noted that all lighting is being controlled utilizing the time-based programmable controls, including daylighting, as well as having local override switches to give the end-user more personalized control. And, if you were curious which systems Renata used in the design, they were Fluxwerx for linears, Impact Lighting for pendants, & Contech for up-lights.

Lastly, congratulations go out to Renata for the great design and dramatic lighting improvements to our challenging loft spaces!
