Overview

McCormick Place Convention Center's west expansion featured an Epstein-led 25-member design team, which delivered this 2.5 million square foot, $882M facility on-time and on-budget.

Epstein directed the design and engineering team and ensured that the design intent documents developed by TVS Design were executed accurately in the construction documents produced.

Numerous design and/or engineering concepts were developed during an intense value engineering consolation with the MPEA in which Epstein's architects and engineers were able to design modifications to TVS' conceptual intent, resulting in over $300M in savings for the MPEA.

Specifically, the west expansion is bordered by Martin Luther King Drive to the east, the Stevenson Expressway to the south, Cermak Road to the north and Indiana Avenue to the west. It includes approximately 459,000 square feet of exhibition space, 140,750 square feet of meeting/banquet space, a 103,750 square foot ballroom, as well as associated food and support service spaces.

This expansion enabled the McCormick Place Convention Center to remain the largest exhibition facility in the United States.
