Dave Hilty, PE, Epsteins Project Manager in Civil Engineering, recently passed a test to become a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). A CFM is someone who has a proven level of expertise in: floodplain mapping, national and state flood insurance programs, regulatory administrative procedures, flood insurance, flood hazard mitigation, natural and beneficial functions of floodplains, and knowledge of the overall context of floodplain management.

Daves over 20 years of experience working on and leading the design of complex site improvements, riverfront developments and transportation projects has given him this expertise.

To become a certified floodplain manager, one has to pass a rigorous closed book test. It isnt easy. Nationally, one-third of those who have tried have failed the test, according to the Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (IAFSM).

With Daves talented support staff and new certification, Epstein can provide assurance to agencies and developers who deal with flooding that the solutions are responsible and effective. We are thrilled that Dave has become an expert in stormwater management and that his professional capabilities have been recognized by a national program.

Many congratulations, Dave, on this tremendous accomplishment!
