Epstein is pleased to welcome Nick Dove, the latest addition to our MEP/FP engineering team. Nick grew up in Nashville and then attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (Go Vols!) where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Nick comes to us from Valdes Engineering, where he provided engineering services for a variety of local companies throughout Chicagoland. During his time at Valdes and his previous employer he has worked on numerous interesting projects for power, petrochemical, and manufacturing plants. Many of these projects have helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts by implementing new technologies. One of his favorites was a recent endeavor to help protect Lake Michigan’s fish and marine life from the damaging effects of cooling water intake systems.
Nick has many varied pursuits; among them are biking around the city, cooking (his favorite dish is blackened salmon with lots of Cajun seasoning) and playing scrabble, pool, bags and videogames.
Since moving to Chicago three years ago, Nick has discovered several neighborhood summer festivals such as Do Division Street Fest and West Fest. Nick has enjoyed learning about some of the city’s architecture, and has found the annual Open House Chicago event to be especially inspiring. (Nick – take a look here goo.gl/e45tsw – this year there are multiple Open House visits to Epstein designed and/or engineering buildings!)
Although Nick currently lives in South Loop, he has also lived in Wicker Park, both allowing him the ability to try various kinds of cuisine. Among his favorites are Blackie’s, for its low-key atmosphere, good food, and great value, and Smoke Daddy for its BBQ, live music, and great patio. Additionally, he confesses to having a weakness for take-out (Don’t we all Nick!): tacos, gyros, and curries are both enticing and necessary for battling the cold winters! But there is another less frivolous side to him, he likes to invest – in stocks, ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds), and most recently cryptocurrency.
Once again, Nick, welcome to the family – we look forward to challenging you to a game of scrabble, or in-depth discussions about the future of cryptocurrency.
