Yesterday, we received a nice gift in the mail from Jacob Kaplan, one of the co-authors of a recently published book about Chicagos Avondale community called Avondale and Chicagos Polish Village. Jacob was kind enough to send us a copy of this terrific historical book which details the influence of Polish Community in Avondale. You may be wondering why the author would have sent a book about the history of specific Chicago neighborhood to an architecture, engineering and construction company Well, the answer is simple. Epstein helped shape Avondale during the 20s through early 60s with landmark buildings for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company as well as the iconic I.S. Berlin Press facility formerly located at the northeast corner of Belmont & Kimball Avenues. Jacob and his co-authors highlighted Epsteins influence in Avondale and even utilized some of our historical photography in the book.

Jacob thank you for the gift it will have a place of honor in our own Epstein history room located on the 9th floor of 600 West Fulton Street headquarters. Best of luck with the book!
