The Port of Wilmington is the number one port in North America for the receipt of fresh fruit imports.
Epstein was awarded the design of an 82,000 square foot warehouse at the Port for the storage of various fruit commodities. The warehouse includes four fruit storage rooms, enclosed loading docks, office space, and a fruit inspection room. Two of the fruit storage rooms are designed to accommodate a fumigation process.
Project challenges include meeting an aggressive design schedule and poor soil conditions that required a deep foundation system and structural slab.
