W.W. Grainger Data Center
Monterrey, Mexico
Epstein provided MEP engineering services for a Data Center located within a 215,000 square foot office and warehouse facility located in Monterrey, Mexico. This 830 square foot data center serves as the hub for all of W.W. Grainger operations in Mexico.
Epstein's scope of work included developing Design Criteria/System Description for the data/computer room. The MEP design criteria/system description of the data/computer room was based on the Grainger Kansas City data center facility that Epstein designed.
Epstein's engineers design criteria included:
• Consider that power may not be available from two independent substations.
• Allow for 24 hours of fuel oil storage
• Allow for the use of the computer room unit and PDC in the space of the computer room
• Review the current data equipment power consumption growth trend to provide spare growth capacities.
• Allow space for future spare generator
• Provide a list of acceptable manufacturers for the major equipment
• Provide alternatives and/or Value Engineering items, where possible.
• Review what are the major components that need to be carried by the generator during power outage mode and fire/life safety mode with the owner.
• Provide initial space requirements for miscellaneous support systems.
