Exelon
Chicago, Illinois Epstein provided full interior design services for the interior tenant build-out for a new 220,000 square foot Exelon Corporation corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago. Exelon consolidated its existing three downtown Chicago locations to support productivity by eliminating travel times among these offices, thereby reducing long-term occupancy costs. The 10-floor project includes state-of-the-art sustainable design features such as extremely efficient lighting utilizing a direct/indirect lighting system with controllable task lighting for every employee. Materials were chosen for recycled content and manufactured locally. Plumbing fixtures were chosen to significantly reduce water consumption as compared to standard City of Chicago code. Exelon saved resources by reusing a significant amount of furniture from its old locations. Indoor air quality was a major importance in this project, therefore materials were selected to have low or no VOCs. The space was awarded LEED-CI Platinum Status by the U.S. Green Building Council.
