Whirlpool Riverview Campus
Epstein is serving as architect of record, structural engineer, MEP engineer and LEED consultant for Whirlpool’s Riverview Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This three phase development, which is pursuing LEED-NC Gold certification, includes 250,000 square feet of new offices, conference/dining facilities; 10,000 square feet of retail; plus 300,000 square feet of interior renovation of Whirlpool’s current facilities also in the Benton Harbor area. The development is expected to take approximately five years to complete (the grand opening for Phase 1 occurred in May 2012) and will allow Whirlpool to improve operations, energy efficiency, and overall employee experience. These changes will also allow the company to reduce its operating costs, and will provide greater flexibility to adjust to changing business and staffing needs. Epstein is part of a developer-led Design-Build team that includes Pizzuti Development, from Columbus, Ohio; Pepper Construction, also from Columbus; Arquitectonica, the design architect, from Miami and New York; and Interior Architects, the interior designer, from Chicago.
