Ekodrob
Ilawa, Poland
Epstein provided architectural/engineering and construction management for a new state-of-the-art poultry plant, designed for the slaughter and processing of chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks. The capacity for Line #1 is 1,000 heads per day of turkeys and 4,000 heads per day of broilers. Capacity for Line #2 is 700 geese per day and 1,500 ducks.
This facility contains all functions (slaughter, production, loading and unloading, administration, etc.) under one roof. Ekodrob contains the latest technology in slaughter and processing equipment, and the facility was built using the “fast track” scheduling method. This plant is a prototype that will serve as a model for future poultry plants being developed by Animex S.A., the majority shareholder in Ekodrob S.A.
The poultry plant is a multi-department facility equipped with the following processing systems: two slaughter lines – one for turkey/chickens and one for water fowl-poultry cutting and packing line, smoked goods production line, and a ready meals production line. The plant contains an unloading zone with wash facility, chiller rooms and cold storage facilities, slaughtering and processing halls, and a shipping area with a separate vehicle wash station for refrigerated trucks used in shipping finished goods. The facility also contains an oil-gas boiler house, chilling ammonia engine room, a water storage reservoir, and a sewage pre-treatment plant.
The project meets USDA and EC standards and uses HACCP practices.
